MckLinky Blog Hop

This week's blog hop is "favorite recipe" again. It was so popular the last time around that they decided to do it again! This time I'm giving my husband's recipe for cholent. This recipe is easy, spicy and very yummy!

1/2 cup pinto beans
1/2 cup black beans (or red beans)
2/3 cup barley
2/3 cup brown rice
1 1/2 pounds flanken beef, cubed
1 large or 2 medium onions; chopped, sliced or whole
4 large or 5 medium red potatoes, cut into halves or quarters
3 Tbsp olive oil
3 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp chili powder and/or cayenne pepper
2 cloves garlic, chopped

Boil beans for two minutes, cover and let sit for one hour. (Or you can let the beans soak overnight.) Drain water. Add the rest of the ingredients to the crockpot (or 5-6 quart stock pot). Add water to just cover all of the ingredients. Cook on low heat for approx 24 hours. Enjoy!
