We Picked

We chose names for our twins, but they are always subject to change depending on our mood or if anything tragic (G-d forbid) happens between now and April. Sorry, but we're not telling. :-) It's another Jewish tradition that the names aren't publicized until the babies are officially named (at the boy's bris/circumcision and at the girl's naming). Obviously we'll fill out birth certificates before then, but no one except my immediate family (and one or two of my really best friends) will know the names. But I just wanted everyone to know that the controversy is over and everyone is happy. Yay for compromising!

  3. That's fantastic! Congrats!

I'm sure there is some comfort in being able to refer to the babies by their names, just between the two of you.

  4. We kept both our kiddos names to ourselves and loved knowing that only we knew them!

  5. Contrats on your pregnancy and on picking names! My husband and I are still struggling with that decision. We also won't be sharing the name, we are thinking about using family names or initals for our little boy. It can make the choices limited though!

    Best of Luck, ICLW.

  6. Good for you! That is one of the hardest parts of parenthood. Because, to be honest, you will say that name about a hundred -ka-billion times in your life in a similar number of tones of voice!

Good to love them! here from ILCW

  9. Yay!!! for having names picked out. One more thing to cross of the perpetual "to do" list when expecting.

Also congrats on your boy/girl twins. Never doubt a mother's intuition, I always say.

  12. It took us a long time to agree on names and EVERYONE had an opinion. Glad you got to a conclusion that you and your husband are happy with! Good luck and congratulations!

  13. Very exciting! Name picking is so hard...we took forever to name our own twins. They were A and B for three long days after they were born. I think the only reason they finally did get named is that the hospital wanted to send in the paperwork!!!

    Congrats!

    Yay for compromise!

I'm not jewish, but I think that sounds like a lovely tradition! Seems to me there's something powerfully bonding in keeping such a secret to yourselves.

  18. I think that's a smart custom - since nobody will know the babies names ahead of time, you won't have the people who comment rudely on their names (hopefully!)

  19. I am happy you chose. I have a question that I am hopeful you will answer. I have been wondering about for about three years. My very best friend of 20 years is Jewish. I know the naming babies after someone that has passed rule.

Would it be different since we are Christian? I don't want something I mean as a gesture of love and honor to end up insulting her religious views.

I have always wanted to name a daughter after her. Would that be wrong?

I could ask her, but that would spoil the surprise. We are not pg- but I have wanted to do this for years and years.

I would love an answer to this nagging question.

  24. Congrats on having picked the names! It's sooo hard. We came up with several names we liked but waited to decide for sure until our son was born (we had quite a few names picked since we didn't know if he was a boy or a girl). I liked not knowing but missed out on getting to call him by name in utero.

  25. Now that you've publicized the names, they are very nice. I wonder, though, if the names you picked last year are the ones you ultimately ended up with? Or did something happen that make you change them?

Found you through Blogger Bingo. I think this counts as updating your last post about picking names. Nice to meet you!
