Now Then...

Pesach's over, and I think I gained like 5 lbs. Ewww. I need to start exercising when I have a few minutes to myself.

The twins are going to be seen by someone with Early Intervention in two weeks. The pediatrician wants them to be evaluated since they still don't seem to understand (or speak) any English (or any other language for that matter). *sigh* I'll let you know how that goes.

Most everyone still has a cold, but I think everyone is getting better. Chana's cough is much better. YAY! And this weekend we're supposed to be going to our friends (the Hoffman family) for a birthday party, but they're also sick so we have to hope that everyone gets better really soon. We're going to be celebrating not only the twins' birthday but also the Hoffmans' youngest and their downstairs neighbor's youngest. Yay for babies! :-)

Meanwhile, go check out the neat games being given away on my other blog for Family Game Month!

  1. Our pedi back in NJ wanted to know that The Boy was using 5 words by 15 months. I don't know if he was using any, MAYBE mama and dada, by 14 months. At 15 months he had said mama, dada, mammaw (grandma), ap (apple), and juice.

It's hard to evaluate them at this age, so much of what they'll go by is what you can report, because sometimes the kids get nervous, although the specialists are usually very good at getting the kids to warm up to them.

    Good luck!

  2. Don't worry! The twins are fine! Einstein didn't speak a word until he was 4 or something like that(See the book by Sowell, the Einstein Syndrome - Bright Children Who Talk Late)
Love love love and refuah shelemah (and Shabbat Shalom!) AuntieBeh

  3. Do you speak Yiddish and English around the twins? My cousin was in a bilingual home and did not speak for well over a year. But once he did, he spoke both languages fluently.

  4. Hey, I know a kiddo who spoke late, and is a champ.

I hope the twins are going to be fine and all!

  5. Kids develop at their own pace -- my brother didn't really speak until he was about 3 - when he simultaneously started speaking and reading! He turned out to be pretty brilliant.

  6. Always happy to meet another twins mommy!

I was stressed before my girls were evaluated for therapy. It turned out to be a great help.

With Angel, they evaluated her and then gave me lots of great tips (and handouts) so I could encourage her development. They didn't feel they needed to see her again.

Hopefully it'll be like that with your twins.
