Newest Belly Pic

This won't be a long belly update post, since I don't think it's really changed much in the last two weeks.

We have 20 weeks on the left and 22 weeks on the right.

If anything, I think I shrunk a teensy bit! lol What can you do...at least maybe now I'll take some time to catch up with my twin pregnant self.

In other news, Dovid is sick again...fever, vomiting, the works. Poor little dude! And I had a great appointment with the midwife. She agrees with the MFM doctor that my cervix length is normal and that every baby grows differently, but she agrees with me that we need to keep watching it just to make sure everything really is 100% ok. Honestly, I hope this midwife (Lila) delivers me, because I love her!!!! She's even supportive of me doing placenta encapsulation. In fact, she was excited that I'm doing it. Honestly, my old OB would have probably vomited on the floor and here's my midwife doing jumping jacks because I'm doing this. Awesomeness!!!! My next appt will be with the OB again because the last appt with the OB got cut short, and I'll also have my GD test as well. Fun times!

Sick Babies

The twins are sick. Both have fevers over 100°F, although since having the latest dose of Tylenol they are both smiling and laughing at Daddy (who is spraying them with water from a bottle). I'm using the Tylenol suppositories rather than the liquid because our last experience with the liquid was not a great one. The twins would spit the liquid out and therefore not get the dose. And you can't try again with another dose because then you risk over-medicating (which can be REALLY bad). Also, if they throw up the dose, it's gone, and once again you can't give the dose again. Suppositories are simple...they go in, you hold them there for 5 mins, they stay in and get the dose. I've never had them poo one out before, so no worries there, and so far it seems to be working.

Chana threw up once earlier, but so far Dovid hasn't. *fingers crossed* Both have been really tired today, sleeping a lot, and both have been pretty grumpy too. (You would be too if you had a fever...) Neither of them want to drink the Pedialyte. I can tell they really want milk, but I'm nervous about having either of them gak it back up. So we tried water...they don't want that either. They did, however, both have a whole bunch of saltines for dinner. So that's good and hopefully will keep their tummies settled for the night. Now we hope that they'll actually sleep through the night. *fingers crossed again*

*sigh* I hate it when they're sick...it makes me sad. :-(

Chem Test and Other Things

I got up bright and early this morning for my chem test. I was proud of myself that I had studied the right way--a little bit every night for the last week. I'm pretty good at chemistry, but I wanted to make sure I had the concepts down. Luckily, the professor gives practice questions which are nearly identical to what will be on the test, and generally there is more than one question for a single topic. Like one of the questions was "Balance these equations" and there were five equations to balance. So I would do two of those and then two of another etc. every night. The only thing I wasn't 100% with was the terminology, because sometimes even when you know what something is it's quite difficult to put it into words. I'm also much better at learning mathematical concepts than at memorizing definitions. But I looked through them several times just to make sure I at least knew the majority of them.

Anyway, I get into the test and the first thing I do is go straight to the definitions. I want to get the worst part done first. :-) I knew all but one without even thinking, and that last one I made an educated guess from what I remembered from the practice questions. Turns out I was right. lol I love that! Then, I went to the rest of the test. Easy peasy. It turns out that studying the right way makes tests so easy you feel like you must be cheating somehow, but you're not. I felt so confident when I handed in my test. If I got anything less than 100%, I'll be shocked. (Especially since this prof grades on a scale, so the first test I got a whole bunch of questions wrong and still managed 100%...go figure.) YAY!

As for the twins, they're doing such a good job taking their medicine when we hide it in milk. We give them 2oz of milk and put the 5ml of amoxicillin in there. It makes it look like and smell like strawberry milk, and I'd bet that's what it tastes like too. The twins don't seem to mind, and I think they actually like the taste. So far they're still coughing, but Chana's "eye goo" is MUCH better! And that's only after a day or so of medicine. YAAAAY! Let's hope the cough gets better really soon, because it's waking her up at night. :-(

Ear Infections

Yipe! The twins have ear infections!! We went to the pediatrician yesterday since Chana is still coughing and her "eye goo" came back. Dovid has also been coughing, but not as much as Chana. So the doctor weighed them (Dovid gained 1/2 a pound!!), and then checked them all over. When she saw Chana's ears she was like "yep...ear infection in both ears". Dovid's ears she was having a hard time looking at due to some ear wax, but when she got a good look, she saw an infection in one of his ears too. So, they're on amoxicillin and I'm hoping neither of them are allergic (like their dear old mom). *sigh*

Note to my sister: Did they check your little one's ears to make sure his wasn't an ear infection too? Is he still producing copious amounts of boogers?

We're Sick

The whole family is sick. :-( Chana and I both have fevers--I have the chills and body aches, so I have to assume that she has them too. Dovid has a runny nose to end all runny noses, and Shmuel has a sore throat. I think Chana also has a runny nose, but it's not nearly as bad as Dovid's. So we had a pretty awful Shabbos. Chana was crying like nobody's business until we gave her tylenol, and Shmuel and I took naps because we were both exhausted. *sigh* Hopefully we'll all be feeling better before Pesach starts. AAAACK!

Oy Vey

The twins are doing better...both had solid food and kept it down, so that's good. Let's just hope tomorrow is more of the same. :-) Unfortunately now Shmuel is sick. :-( Poor guy has what the twins had, but hopefully he'll recover as quickly as Chana did. *sigh* Well, at least he can talk so it should be easier to take care of him than the twins, right? :-) We just have to make sure neither Ziva nor I get sick. Seriously, I'll be so upset...there's no way I'm going to miss class cuz I'm sick. I will seriously leave the classroom every 5 mins to puke if I have to. lol But, hopefully it won't come to that... Geesh!

What on Earth

So Dovid is still sick. Still gakking up his meals, and I just don't know what to do. He won't keep down formula, but he's not getting *any* calories from pedialyte. And here's the kicker...Chana just threw up her dinner. Someone who shall remain nameless decided to then give her a formula bottle, which she promptly threw up and who I promptly yelled at. :-) We are totally stumped as to why they are suddenly sick when none of the three adults are. We don't even have the teensiest bit of nausea and here are both kids puking up their meals. And I don't know how to fix it!! We tried the pedialyte by itself, but as soon as we started mixing it with formula, Dovid would throw it up several hours later. GAAAAAHHHH!!! Please help!

Wow

I have been a terrible blogger lately. No posts in a week!! Geesh. Well, let me get you all up to speed...

We went to Baltimore and had a great time at the wedding. The flight down and back were both pretty smooth, for the most part. Not too much for me to freak out about and I got to watch some TV! :-)

While we were there, we had a great time with my sister, brother-in-law, his brother, and my sister & brother-in-law's foster son. Unfortunately there was a slight mishap with food...meaning that my au pair ate something and got food poisoning. Ooooopsie! So she was sick as a dog for Friday afternoon and evening and Saturday morning. Thank G-d she is doing fine now and recovered pretty well. On Saturday afternoon, Dovid started vomited his lunch and became clingy, since that was his only stomach upset, we didn't really think about it...until today. We left on Sunday, and I immediately started my homework for the next day! :-)

Yesterday I went to class, no biggie for me, but poor Ziva (our au pair) was stuck with a clingy Dovid. She last fed/changed him around 4:30pm, and then my hubby tried to feed him later around 7pm. He vomited the egg that he had eaten, and then vomited the formula Shmuel gave him. Shmuel got his outfit changed, but didn't change his diaper. He put Dovid in his crib and went to help Chana with something. When he got back to Dovid, Dovid was already asleep. He figured Dovid would wake up for a change and maybe to eat something, but he didn't until the morning. The twins got up to eat before 6am, and when Shmuel changed Dovid his diaper was wet, but not soaked as he would have expected it to be. Plus the fact that Dovid was being overly sleepy on the changing table. Shmuel then fed Dovid 3 ounces of formula, which was promptly vomited. Ooops. Now he's worried about dehydration...crap. I get up around 7:30am and see Shmuel's frantic note about Dovid. I then see Dovid wake up, get to a sitting position and then promptly fall over...not natural. Crap again. So I go upstairs to wake Ziva so she can take care of Dovid and I can get to school. I left and called the pediatrician's office for advice. They said to give him Pedialyte (only 1-2 tsp every 15-20 mins) to see if he could keep that down and to then come in later when we had a chance. I called a friend of mine who brought some Powerade over to Ziva to give to Dovid, which we were instructed by the pediatrician to dilute since it's not Pedialyte. :-) Ziva then dutifully followed the instructions, except for one thing...she mistook a tablespoon for a teaspoon and ended up giving Dovid 3-6 times what he was supposed to be getting. Heh oops! Luckily Dovid kept it all down anyway. We went to the pediatrician during my break between classes, and unfortunately had to wait so long that poor Ziva had to walk the twins home... Luckily she is a really fast walker and got home in 20 mins. WOW! That was like a 2 mile walk, too. Geez, like superwoman! Anyhoo, I went to class and then came home to give Ziva a break. I told her to go take a well-deserved nap for as long as she needed, and I would take care of the twins. Chana then took a nap, and Dovid fell asleep in my arms. Very sweet. :-) When they woke up, I wanted to feed Chana something, so I sat both of them in their booster seats. I gave Chana some kiwi and brought a bottle to Dovid. Dovid was having none of that! He wanted REAL FOOD RIGHT NOW. heh So I made him some toast. He gobbled up a few small pieces, and I gave the rest to Chana. He kept that down along with an ounce or so of formula. Later on Shmuel gave him another 2.5 ounces of formula, which he's kept down as well. He's also acting more like himself; playing and smiling.

So far so good! Maybe tomorrow he'll get some banana and some more toast. Any ideas on good foods while recovering from a stomach bug?
