Incommunicado

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but I've been super busy. The diet isn't going so well...I still can't seem to get out of my plateau.

In other news, the twins are being as adorable as ever. Chana was trying to imitate me saying "mama," but she could only get out "mmm" lol. They're still learning how to eat, and still they're having trouble swallowing. They make gagging faces/noises that scare the ever-living you-know-what out of you. You think they're choking, but about 2 seconds later they get it down and smile at you as if nothing happened. Then they go right back to playing with their food. It is SO nerve-wracking, and I wish they'd just learn how to swallow properly already!

I can't believe Thanksgiving is coming up next week. It will be the 4-year anniversary of meeting my husband. Wow...I can't believe it's been that long! We're hopefully going to be going to a friend's house for Thanksgiving dinner, and hopefully Shifra and the twins will be able to join us as well. It'll be a really great time! What do you all have planned for Thanksgiving?

  1. I'm sorry about the plateau- they are so frustrating! It seems like I am constantly stuck at one weight & just can't get below it...

Go Channah- I can't wait until Caiden starts saying mama! She says nana & mmmm & baba, but that's it.
And yes- gagging would scare the $%#* out of me! We are going to my aunt's for thanksgiving & I can not wait! I am so excited to have this holiday season!!! Enjoy yours!

  2. How are you doing on portion size? I lost more when I realized that I was eating twice the portion size I was supposed to. For example- cereal in a mug instead of a bowl will help control your portion. Also, something we have been doing at my house for years is cutting our juice with water or seltzer. It cuts the calories without making you feel trapped in boring water land.

I don't know if the high fiber pasta is kosher, but if it is check that out. It really helps.

  4. Happy ICLW!

I'm sorry about the plateau. Those are the worst. I seriously need to get back into hard core point counting and exercise, but it's so hard to do when you've been lax about it, know what I mean? Good luck with your continued weight loss!

For thanksgiving, we're going to my husband's family's gathering. We'd rather go with my family, but you have to do what you have to do. lol

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  5. I am sorry that the diet isn't going as well as you would like. I know that can be hard. Your twins sound very cute. And the swallowing thing does sound scary. Good luck with that.

I hope you and your husband have a happy Thanksgiving and "anniversary".

  6. Yeah for "anniversaries"! E and I just celebrated 10 years of our first meeting. We will celebrate 10 years of our first unofficial date on Black Friday.

We all ready had Thanksgiving on one side (we are weird like that). Actually, we will be going to E's side and spending the day with them. My mu.m has changed our Thanksgiving to be earlier which is nice because saves the running around stress.

Stopping by for an ICLW visit...

  8. A plateau eventually ends. But you could give it a push by either changing your activity (more minutes or different intensity). Sometimes the body is in a rut and won't change anything unless we do. Works for me...but I don't lose weight, I gain some because if the muscle, but I'm firmer so less jam in the jelly.

I'm sure you'll find a way of dropping off the plateau ! lol

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family ! :)

  12. I love that stage when little ones are just trying to make sense of their sounds... so sweet!

  13. I remember when my children were babies, and how eagerly I waited for their first word. (Duckie, DaDa, and Dem - as in "want dem" -- but not the much prompted mama.) Once they hit the teenager stage, though, I looked back with longing for pre-"Mo-om" time.

    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  16. It sounds like you have done a great job with w/l already! I know it can be frustrating when you hit that plateau.

I found an awesome website that helped me lost 25 lbs (and going). It is http://myfitnesspal.com - Apologies if you have already seen it. But it's pretty cool. Maybe it could shake things up for you?

Hope you have a happy THanksgiving with your twins!! ;)

  17. I found your blog via IComLeavWe.
Our twins are now a little over 3 years old. Even now we have to watch very carefully to make sure they don't choke on food!

About your weight loss efforts, I recommend you connect with Dr Michelle May, MD. She teaches mindful eating, which I think is a great way to stay on course with your eating plans. You can visit her website at www.amihungry.com

    Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

For Thanksgiving, we are hosting both sets of parents. I'm crazy enough that this is the third year straight that we've done it as well. Happy Thanksgiving!
