To Wait or Not To Wait

DISCLAIMER: If you are related to me and/or do not wish to read about "personal" stuff, please do not read this post. Thank you! :-)

Ok ladies (and gents?), I have not been with my husband since October. First it was placenta previa, then I had the cerclage put in, and finally I gave birth. It's been about 6 months and I'm finished waiting. My 6 week postpartum checkup isn't for another week and a half, but I'm not bleeding anymore. According to Jewish law, I will be allowed to be with him this Sunday night. What do I do? Wait the week and a half or say to heck with it and tackle him on Sunday? All comments are welcome!

  1. If you're not in any pain, go for it! I think 6 weeks is more an estimate of when they think you'll be ready, anyway.

  2. I say go for it especially since you aren't bleeding.

  4. I say go for it...however and I say this In CAPS...I "went for it" at 4.5 weeks...and well, had to wait an extra 2 weeks to begin birth control (not sure if you practice BC) because the condom came off in the midst of our of so awaited fun....It was a very tense 2 weeks waiting and wondering......

  5. Well Elana, as much as I would want you and DH to get cozy, there is a small thing I would say. My opiniion is strictly ignorable.

You have already spent so much time maintaining the distance that waiting for week postpartum checkup isn't for another week and a half is not a big thing. (Am I sounding sadistic)? I don't want anything to happen to you. Only when the doctor says a-OK, you do it.

I just want to be on the safer side.

And even if you do....don't get wild, you guys!

  6. we had a similar issue. Niddah ended but I hadn't had my 6 week checkup. I went for a dip at the mikvah, but we waited to have sex because I was afraid since we didn't have the go ahead. Since you had so many issues, it may be better to wait the extra week and a half.

  7. Maybe you could skip penetration. Ahem.

I would suggest plenty of water and some yogurt to make sure it is nice and comfortable down there.

  14. ICLW-er here. What a great post to respond to! I think this falls in the "every woman is different" category. If you're ready emotionally and feel relatively ok physically, go for it!

  15. At this point I'm sure you've made your move... one way or the other ;) I just want to reiterate what another commenter made, that every woman is different and if you feel ready, then go for it!

    Happy ICLW!

  16. Jump him! But use protection. Take this advice from a woman who never though she'd have to worry about it, and is pregnant with twins while caring for her 4 month old.

  17. Does the Jewish Law have a big impact on what you do?

    If not, have at it.

  21. I would not have relations without the go ahead from the doctor, esp since you had a cerclage. if you waited this long, you can survive another week, just my 2 cents...
