Ok ladies (and gents?), I have not been with my husband since October. First it was placenta previa, then I had the cerclage put in, and finally I gave birth. It's been about 6 months and I'm finished waiting. My 6 week postpartum checkup isn't for another week and a half, but I'm not bleeding anymore. According to Jewish law, I will be allowed to be with him this Sunday night. What do I do? Wait the week and a half or say to heck with it and tackle him on Sunday? All comments are welcome!
If you're not in any pain, go for it! I think 6 weeks is more an estimate of when they think you'll be ready, anyway.
ReplyDeleteGo on and get busy!
ReplyDeleteI say go for it especially since you aren't bleeding.
ReplyDeleteI have heard 4wks from some sources. So, I say go for it.
ReplyDeleteI say go for it...however and I say this In CAPS...I "went for it" at 4.5 weeks...and well, had to wait an extra 2 weeks to begin birth control (not sure if you practice BC) because the condom came off in the midst of our of so awaited fun....It was a very tense 2 weeks waiting and wondering......
ReplyDeleteWell Elana, as much as I would want you and DH to get cozy, there is a small thing I would say. My opiniion is strictly ignorable.
ReplyDeleteYou have already spent so much time maintaining the distance that waiting for week postpartum checkup isn't for another week and a half is not a big thing. (Am I sounding sadistic)? I don't want anything to happen to you. Only when the doctor says a-OK, you do it.
I just want to be on the safer side.
And even if you do....don't get wild, you guys!
I say tackle him! :-)
ReplyDeletewe had a similar issue. Niddah ended but I hadn't had my 6 week checkup. I went for a dip at the mikvah, but we waited to have sex because I was afraid since we didn't have the go ahead. Since you had so many issues, it may be better to wait the extra week and a half.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could skip penetration. Ahem.
ReplyDeleteI would suggest plenty of water and some yogurt to make sure it is nice and comfortable down there.
Did you wait? LOL :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could have. ;-)
If you aren't in any pain and you aren't bleeding, go for it! Hope you had a good night whatever you decided!

If you are up to it, I say tackle him. That was always my rule, at least.

ReplyDeletehahahaha what a fab landing post to come in on :-)
I think you should stop and think, 'what would your husband do?' :-)
VP
I say go for it, if you're not in any pain! I'm sure he'd agree!
ReplyDeleteICLW
I'm not sure since I've never gone through it, but if you are feeling o.k. I say go for it!

ICLW-er here. What a great post to respond to! I think this falls in the "every woman is different" category. If you're ready emotionally and feel relatively ok physically, go for it!
ReplyDeleteAt this point I'm sure you've made your move... one way or the other ;) I just want to reiterate what another commenter made, that every woman is different and if you feel ready, then go for it!
ReplyDeleteHappy ICLW!
Jump him! But use protection. Take this advice from a woman who never though she'd have to worry about it, and is pregnant with twins while caring for her 4 month old.
ReplyDelete: )
Does the Jewish Law have a big impact on what you do?
ReplyDeleteIf not, have at it.
ICLW
I'd say, do it twice for good measure :)
ReplyDelete(Hey, I'm a guy, what do you expect?)

Girl, you are a saint!
ReplyDeleteJump that man and have your wicked way with him!!!!!!!!

I'm with In Due Time...DID you wait?! Inquiring minds want to know ;o) I didn't wait the 6 weeks after my son but Husband was VERY careful. I was on bed rest and pelvic rest for MONTHS. Poor guy, I felt bad for him...lol

PS...LOL @ Celia's comment!
I would not have relations without the go ahead from the doctor, esp since you had a cerclage. if you waited this long, you can survive another week, just my 2 cents...
